Here's some news from the western side of the state, and the LINK to their Newsletter (click)

Hello Team and happy 2010!

As we move ahead in 2010 with ARES and RACES, we thought it would be great to have an area Newsletter.  The frequency of the publication, for now, will be either by-monthly, or quarterly.  We will nail that down as we get further along with the editorials and publication.  What we will have each month is an ARES Team member profile.  We will highlight the ARES appointed leaders first, so we can all get to know a bit more about them, and then we will go down the roster from there.  The first issue of the Newsletter has my profile as the featured Team member.  Next month we will feature Dan Woodall so get some thoughts and stories on paper for us.  Keep profile to no more than 300 words, please.

As we get further along and build our team, we will have an ARES / RACES member as a point of contact for each of the Counties that make up Dist. 3.  Please send me your thoughts and article ideas on or Newsletter as we hope to make this a recruiting tool in addition to the publication being a ‘good’ informative read!  Please feel free to re-distribute this Newsletter to all of your Amateur friends and family.  This newsletter will also be available to view from the State website, Thanks to John, K0IP the webmaster.

We have also made available, a training sheet for each of you that are currently ARES members.  This sheet is on Google Docs and I will be sending each of you your own private sheet for you to keep track of the training you complete.  It has been populated with all of the training information that you have sent to me to date.  Other than YOU, only you County EC and Asst. EC will have access to view your training sheet.

Currently, our Section Manager Ed Stuckey, and  (SEC) Bob Kesson are working on training criteria for the State so we want to get you all thinking about your FEMA - IS training.  The sheets outline and record, for your convenience, basic training requirements along with some advanced classes / training for ARES members.

Be safe, and be well!
